Having arisen on the border of the 20th century genetics, as a science, has broken through understanding of fundamental principles of hereditary apparatus functioning in living organisms.
The level of knowledge in understanding the essence of heredity achieved by the end of the 20th century and the developed methods of investigations made it possible to transfer to a controlled construction of heredity molecules, individual cells and the whole organisms.
And so, in the coming 21st century along with storing new fundamental knowledge one of the principal problems of genetics and related biological sciences will be development of genetic engineering biotechnologies capable of exerting a great influence on the progress of mankind.
