CHERNOBYL ECOLOGICAL SCIENCE NETWORK (CESN)

  

Established in 1991 by the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Programme.

Members MAB National Committees of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine and individual scientists from Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and USA.

Aims A study the ecological consequences of radioactive pollution of the biosphere and provide assistance to countries suffering from the Chernobyl accident.

NGO Relations Co-operation with the International Union of Radioecology (IUR) and Scientific Committee on Problems of Environment (SCOPE).

Activites The collaborative studies of the Chernobyl catastrophe impact on environment, natural ecosystems, agroecosystems, human ecology, biodiversity, genetic, social and economical systems.

Events The International Symposia in Minsk, Belarus ( 1992 , 1995 , 1996 ); Venice, Italy (1994); Kyiv, Ukraine (1994); Moscow, Russia (1994).
